When connecting to another application on the localhost using sockets, you do not need to use a socket policy.

When connecting from a local AIR/Flex application to a local application (c++) using sockets do you still need a socket policy file?

When connecting from a local AIR/Flex application to a local application (c++) using sockets do you still need a socket policy file? If you do, is there an easy way to load the policy file without sending the policy from the local application you are trying to connect to? side note: I am writing both applications.

The FlexConnect access points can switch client data traffic locally and perform client authentication locally when their connection to the controller is lost. When they are connected to the controller, they can also send traffic back to the controller. In the connected mode, the FlexConnect access point can also perform local authentication.

The socket policy for AIR apps is very different than for web-based flex/flash apps. I came here hoping to find an answer as why I would ever get error #2031

The software connects to a tunnel connection 10.8.0.0, which leads me to believe it requires the creation of some kind of tunnel to capture anything received from the internet on port 9091 from 192.168.1.142 and forward it to those 4 sockets through some kind of dynamic port forwarding thing or something like that

Adobe AIR adds several additional classes for socket-based network programming. AIR applications can act as TCP socket servers

Upon acceptance, the server gets a new socket bound to the same local port and also has its remote endpoint set to the address and port of the client. It needs a new socket so that it can continue to listen to the original socket for connection requests while tending to the needs of the connected client.

There you can use ServerSocket and use Socket to connect with a client to the server. So the simplest approach would be to write your Game as an AIR Application
